As the core enclosure of oilimmersed transformers, the tank accommodates iron cores, windings, and transformer oil, leveraging the oil medium to deliver both insulation protection and efficient heat dissipation for continuous, stable operation. To address the demanding conditions of largescale voltageregulating equipment, the industry has introduced a split dualtank configuration: a dedicated main tank paired with a separate onload tapchanger tank that houses the tapchanger independently. This design effectively contains electric arcs generated during switching operations, preventing contamination and performance degradation of the insulating oil while substantially extending equipment stability and service life. Many configurations further integrate a Conservator Tank — a specialized Transformer Oil Storage Tank that compensates for oil volume expansion and contraction under temperature fluctuations, thereby reducing the risk of insulating oil deterioration and preserving dielectric integrity over time.
Three mainstream tank architectures dominate the market — boxtype, belltype, and sealedtype — each precisely engineered to match transformers of varying capacities and application requirements. Boxtype tanks are the preferred choice for small and mediumsize transformers, offering lightweight construction, straightforward maintenance, and compatibility with multiple heatdissipation structures. Largecapacity transformers typically employ belltype tanks, whose optimized flange design allows the shell to be removed for servicing without hoisting the heavy active part, significantly lowering both maintenance costs and operational complexity. Sealedtype tanks, manufactured with integral seamless welding for exceptional tightness, cater to highreliability, missioncritical applications and reflect the ongoing trend toward highend power equipment manufacturing.
From a craftsmanship perspective, these tanks are fabricated from highstrength steel plates and incorporate antimagnetic shielding structures to minimize stray losses. Standardized flanges, gasrelease units, and multifunctional valves for oil draining, sampling, and filling are integrated throughout, alongside antislip bases and grounding terminals that maintain grounding resistance strictly below 0.5 Ω. Together, these features establish a comprehensive safety framework that reinforces stable, efficient grid operation and reinforces the industry's commitment to advancing power equipment manufacturing to new heights.
